ACTION A1: INTEGRATION OF KNOWLEDGES ABOUT THE DISTRIBUTION OF POPULATIONS OF SPECIES OF AMPHIBIANS AND BUTTERFLIES AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROCEDURES FOR THE EX-SITU BREEDING AND RELOCATION OF AMPHIBIANS

Status : Started.

This action includes an integration of knowledge with regard to the populations which represent the target of the project into the intervention areas, particularly aimed at identifying the natural breeding sites of the species; this detailed study is necessary in order to integrate the actual knowledge regarding them, which are currently good and detailed only for a portion of the area

covered by the project. The study is also of fundamental importance for carrying out maintenance and with regard to establishment of breeding sites for amphibians and favourable habitats for butterflies, besides specimens re-entering actions.

Furthermore, the action provides for the development of the ex-situ breeding procedures of Bombina Variegata and moving of Salamandrina terdigitata which is essential in order to ensure the success of the concrete conservation action C2.
